| How do I know if products are interoperable and certified? |

At present, the industry does not have a method for certifying that products are interoperable. DCI testing will help in regards to interoperable distribution and with many areas of security, but not in regards to interoperability at the theatre operations level. As simple a task as moving a show from one make of server to another will not be guaranteed by DCI. Thus, a broader interoperability effort is needed. Certification has two parts: it needs to be based on the specifications that result from the interoperability effort, and it needs to be managed such that it is clear to the user that the product meets the specifications. This requires certification management by a neutral party, and a branding mechanism to clearly identify certified products. |
