Tuesday, 23 August 2005 20:53

The Following is the Media Format Information Sheet for Media Distribution of slide ad audio on CD.

Three types of CD playback automation current exist

  1. Scott Christopher Version 2
  2. Scott Christopher Version 1 legacy. (Mono Audio)
  3. Atlab

Each system uses a domestic DVD/CD player to playback the Slide Audio.

The DVD/CD player is modified to take a contact closure PLAY signal from the Automation.

A monitoring device is then used to detect PULSE signals in the audio. This sends a signal back to automation to change slide. Automation is programmed to know the number of slides expected.

Scott Christopher Version 2

This is full stereo playback with an inaudible PULSE/tone hidden on the left Audio Channel.

Following are the specifications for this system.

  • No First Pulse
  • 400ms Lead in before Audio starts on CD (First Track.)
  • Pulse 1 second before next Audio Track starts.
  • Pulse is 200ms long with 50ms fade in/out. Total 300ms.
  • 18KHz, Left Channel at -15db

The CD layout is.

  1. A pulse preceding each audio track.
  2. The initial audio track is usually a location based pre-slide show. Welcome, etc.
This is usually made of multiple slides. Pulses must be placed in appropriate locations to follow the audio.
  3. A Pulse must be placed after the final audio track, followed by another pulse 5 seconds later as a backup to clear the projector is a problem occurred.

Scott Christopher Version 1

This is a legacy version and is being phased out.

The right channel is the Audio in MONO.
The left channel is the PULSE data. 0.5 seconds long at 1kH. -6db

The format layout of the CD is as follows.

  1. 400ms silence before any audio.
  2. A pulse preceding each audio track.
  3. The initial audio track is usually a location based pre-slide show. Welcome, etc.
This is usually made of multiple slides. Pulses must be placed in appropriate locations to follow the audio.
  4. A Pulse must be placed after the final audio track, followed by another pulse 5 seconds later as a backup to clear the projector is a problem occurred.
